Ice Cream | Fancy Pants Designs

Hey friends! Erica here with you today to share my first project with you as a Design Team member for Fancy Pants Designs.  I hope you find inspiration in what I share with you. For my first project I am using the A Cherry on Top collection from Fancy Pants Designs and a cut file from my good friend Lacey Ann Designs. You can grab this free cut file HERE on Lacey’s blog! I thought this cut file would be perfect with this collection and my photo.

I cut the file out on some white textured cardstock. I used the A Cherry on Top 6×8 paper pad to back the cut file. Once my cut file was backed I added foam squares all over the back of the cut file to add some dimension to my layout. I also like to make sure the cut file is popped up so I can tuck things in around the file.

I took this photo recently of my new favorite sundae from the ice cream shop that just opened up in town! Turtle Cheesecake Sundae! It is seriously so yummy. I matted the photo on the pretty pink floral paper from the Cherry on Top collection and tucked it in to the right side of the cut file. I added a strip of pattern paper from the collection pack to the top and bottom of my layout to help frame the page. I used some floral die cuts to embellish around my page and that super cute cherry from the A Cherry on Top chipboard.

To finish off my layout I added some of the A Cherry on Top Puffy Dots around the page and added a little bit of journaling. I typed it out on my We R Memory Keepers typewriter and cut it out into strips using my paper trimmer. Here is a look at my completed layout using the A Cherry on Top collection.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Make sure to stop by the Foundations Decor /Fancy Pants Designs shop! You can get 10% off by using the code ERICATHOMPSON at checkout! You can also find this collection at Scrapbook.com HERE and at A Cherry on Top HERE. I hope you are inspired to document your favorite sweet treat using the beautiful A Cherry on Top collection. Have a wonderful day.

It’s Messy and I Love It – Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone!  I am back with another layout to share with you!  I am really excited about this one because I am using a new stamp set from Precious Remembrance Shop called Happy Art that Clique Kits now carries!  We I received the email with this new stamp release I just knew we had to add this to the shop!  I love a stamp set that can be used in many ways and this is one of those stamps!  I knew I wanted to create a background with this stamp set for my layout with some fun and bright colors!  I dove into my stash of Tim Holtz Distress Inks and pulled out 3 of my favorites..Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers and Squeezed Lemonade!  I also pulled out my April Clique Kit along with a beautiful teal paper from Bella Blvd Illustrated Faith that matches not only the ink but also the papers I pulled from the kit!

I am documenting this photo of myself and my crazy and wild curly hair.  I had recently cut it very short and this was the first time I had not worn it straight and it looked even shorter and a little messy but I do love it!

This layout was so fun to put together and I really hope you like it!  Creating your own background is a great way to stretch your kits!  I am having so much fun with this stamp set and kit I can not wait to share what else I have created!

Inspired by Missy Whidden – Oh You!

Hey everyone!  Today I would like to share that I will be starting a new series called Inspired By.  A few times a month I will create a project inspired by someone new!  My first Inspired By project was inspired by the fabulous Missy Whidden!  If you are on any platform of social media you have definitely seen a piece of Missy’s work!  One of my favorite things about Missy is all her work with color!  Her mixed media is always so fun and carefree and so full of color!  Watching her create makes me want to bust out my inks and that is exactly what I did!  I follow her on YouTube so I get alerted when a new video is posted and when I saw her process video #129-Sweet Girl I was so inspired!  I pulled out some die cuts that have been sitting in my stash and decided to use them up with this technique!

12976816_495430490641791_2600567444255855532_o

I dumped out all the ephemera pieces from the ziplock onto my table!  Most of them are from the Wildflowers collection by WRMK!  Beautiful die cuts but I had so many left over this was the perfect way to get them onto a layout and mix it up with new products!

12916703_495430513975122_3429146180940454137_o

I adhered all the pieces to a 12×12 piece of white smoke cardstock from My Minds Eye.  I love the White Smoke cardstock because it is nice and thick!

Once the die cuts were all down I applied some white gesso making sure to cover all the diecuts with a nice layer!  I have this nice thick card from Illustrated Faith that I was given from CHA and it works great to apply geso!   Once the gesso dried I applied a handful of fun mist colors to the paper.

12967488_495721420612698_1977522856952433678_o

I let this dry over night and the next day I used some circle dies to cut it up!  While on Facebook I saw a sketch by Paper Issues that Hannah Lemieux posted and guess what?!  It had circles on it!  Perfect for my freshly cut circles right!?

12968528_495382537313253_429050823_n

I love how this layout turned out in the end!  I had a few small little issues creating the layout but in the end I am very  happy with the way it turned out!  Sometimes you just have to go with the flow right?

I hope you will give this technique a try and do not forget to check out Missy’s video and her layout!  Thanks again Missy for the great inspiration!  Below is my completed layout and my process video!  If you have not already subscribed to my channel I would love for you to hit that subscribe button!

All That Fringe

Hey Everyone!  I am so excited to share this layout with you today!  I have been neglecting my blog and my craft desk over the last few months!  I had to start making time to create because it is what I enjoy!  I have let other things get in the way and I have decided that some things just have to be let go and I will no longer stress over it!  This mama needs to be happy and creating makes me happy!  I have created so many layouts since last week and I can not wait to share them all with you!  I have a few kits stacked up that I have been dying to dig into and the February Clique Kit has been calling my name!

CK_Feb16-Sneak7 febembelish1

Fringe can be seen all over the scrappy world these days and more and more people are creating their own fringe embellishments!  At CHA 2016 Maggie Holmes released some fringe heart embellishments that have been a huge hit in her Bloom collection!

american-crafts-crate-paper-maggie-holmes-bloom-fringe-hearts

If you check out YouTube you will find a ton of DIY fringe tutorials lately!  Love how one item can create such buzz and inspiration and get everyone creating!  I took this inspiration and created a fun layout with so much fringe!  I have had my fringe scissors for over a year and they have been collecting dust so it was time to dust these babies off and put them to work!

IMG_5891

Creating this layout was so fun and super simple!  I had been cutting the exclusive February cut files with my silhouette and after cutting out the heart file I was left with a big cut out heart on a 12×12 paper!  I stared and stared at this paper and hated to just toss the scrap when I had the idea to create a large fringe heart!  I love the end result and think this one will be hung up in my craft space!  I cut strips from the 12×12 papers in the kit and also some of the add on 6×6 paper pad.  Once I had all my strips cut out I adhered them down to a white piece of card stock using my Tombow adhesive.  Once they were all attached to the card stock I added foam to the back of the cut file and placed on top of the fringe covered white cardstock!

IMG_5889

Now since I did not plan to create this layout to begin with the heart file was not centered before I cut it but I am totally ok with that!  What I love is that the one cut file I cut ended up being used for two totally different layouts with totally different end results!  I can not wait to share the other layout with you!  The Clique Kits Hot Mess cut files were designed by Just Nick and have been some of my favorites!

CK_Feb16-CutFiles CK_Feb16-CutFiles2

I have used the heart file over and over again!  The Clique Kits shop has a digital shop filled with great cut files at a great price!  You have to check it out!  There are also a few of the February Hot Mess kit available so if you want to get your hands one you can check it out HERE!  Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed my layout!  I have recently changed over my blog to WordPress so if you are not yet following me here I would love it if you did:)  Have a wonderful day and I hope you get some time to do something creative today!

I did keep the embellishing very light because I wanted the background and photo to stand out!  A simple title of #love with some foam Dear Lizzy Thickers from the Clique Kits shop and the layout was complete!  Adding pattern paper to the back of these cut files does take a little time but it so worth the end result!  I just love how this turned out and hope to see you create something fun with your cut files!  We have a great digital store with fun cut files and printables!  These are great to help stretch your kits!

Clique Kits August Blog Share

Hey everyone!  So glad you could join us for the Clique Kits August Blog Share!  This  month we featured the fabulous and fruity Citrus Bliss collection from Pink Paislee!  Now who does not love pineapples right!?  Rebecca Cross sure hit this collection out of the park because it is so on trend!  Speaking of Rebecca Cross….if you have not yet read the Designer in the Spotlight post featuring Rebecca please head on over and check it out after the hop HERE!

You should have arrived from GIA’S blog but if you did not you can start the blog share from the beginning by CLICKING HERE!  Now this month’s kit was so much to fun to create with!  It was however hard for me to cut into this beautiful paper at first!  That first cut is always the hardest for me!  But once the hard part was over my layouts all fell together nicely!  That is one of the best things about these kits!  Everything coordinates so beautifully it makes creating so easy!  This month we also had so many amazing add ons!  For my layout I wanted to highlight some of the August Add ons still available in the shop so lets have a look at my layout shall we!!  The photo I am documenting is of my birthday dinner and of coarse for desert I had to have my favorite…Pineapple Upside Down cake!!  I was thrilled to see this on the dessert menu for a change and I could have ordered two pieces!

To create my layout I started with the awesome Pink Paislee pineapple embossing folder! I am so in LOVE with this embossing folder!  Adding texture is so easy with this great folder!  I embossed 6 white pieces of cardstock for my layout and then adhered them to my paper.  I added some stitching for some added interest to my page and then adhered the piece to a 12×12 pattern paper from the kit!  Of coarse I did cut out the center of this paper to use on other layouts!  Simple little trick to help stretch out that paper!

I also added some fun mist and watercolors to my paper!  The Clique kits store has a variety of paints and mists to add pops of color to your projects!  And if acrylic paint is all you have then add a small dab of paint and mix with  lots of water and spatter on with a paint brush or use the packaging technique!  Super fun to help add that messing watercolor look to your page!  I also added some fun ephemera pieces around my photo that came in the kit!  You can never have enough ephemera!  For my title I did not use the alphas in the kit I pulled out my June kit alphas from My Minds Eye!  I love these alphas and I like that these alphas matched my gold thread just a little bit better than the August kit alphas!  If you did not get our June kit you can pick these fabulous alphas up in the shop HERE!

And no layout is complete without some fabulous and fresh flair and a little stamping!  This flair was designed by Clique Kits very own Lacey Gasper!  We have limited quantities of the Clique Kits Summer Flair so grab some today before they are gone!  These have been so popular we actually made another batch because of all the request from our customers!  Love Love Love them!  I also added in some stamping using the new Dear Lizzy roller date stamp!  The XOXO was a cute little touch to the layout in some aqua ink!  The CK shop now has some of the new Documentary collection from Dear Lizzy in the shop!  I hope you enjoyed my layout today!  Make sure to check out the Clique Kits store for new products!  Our September kit Capture also goes live today and and there is a ton of new product you do not want to miss!  Your next stop on the hop is Sophie!  Enjoy your day!

The First Cut

Hello!!  Wow it has been a long time since I have posted to my blog!  I really miss it!  My life has been crazy busy over the last few months.  I wanted to pop in quick and share a layout I created with the August 2014 Clique Kit!  This kit features the Citrus Bliss collection from Pink Paislee and is filled with yummy embellishments!  I also picked up a few extra add ons from the Clique Kits shop!

My layout came together pretty quickly after making the dreadful first cut!  I always have the hardest time cutting into the beautiful paper!  After trying to decide what papers I wanted to use I just decided to cut most of them into layering pieces and leaving a few of them whole.  This made it very easy to just start layering behind my photo!  I also applied some ink and mist to my white background using the packaging technique.  I love how this all came together and it is one of my favorites!  The photo was from a few weeks ago when I attended the CHA Paper Arts + show in Schaumburg IL.  I met up with one of my friends and enjoyed this fabulous drink served in a pineapple!  I knew this photo would be perfect with this kit!  Here is a look at my completed layout!

Now I hope you all agree with me on how fabulous that drink looks!  The presentation of it was fabulous!  I hope you enjoyed my layout today and I hope to be posting to my blog more often!  School will be starting soon so I will have some free time during the nap time hours of my youngest to get some crafting done!  I hope you all enjoy your day!

Clique Kits May Blog Share

Welcome to Clique Kits May blog share!  You should have arrived from the Clique Kits blog but if you were just stopping for a visit please click HERE to start the hop from the beginning!  Our May kit Carnival featured the Rise & Shine collection from the one and only Amy Tangerine.
I was able to meet Amy Tangerine at the winter CHA show and of coarse I had to get a photo with her and Jack!  Today I am sharing the layout I created using the May kit and this very special photo!

I decided on a 8.5×11 layout since I was using only one Instax photo.  I am really loving this size of layouts!  I kept it very simple and clean and I do love how it turned out!  This one will be hung up in my craft space for sure!  Amy is one of my all time favorite designers and I fall in love with everything she comes out with!  Meeting her this year was a highlight for me for sure!
Thanks so much for stopping today and I hope you enjoyed my layout using the May 2015 kit!  Your next stop is Lacey!  Please remember to comment along the way for your chance to win your own Carnival kit!  Share on Facebook for a extra chance to win!

Clique Kits Spring Card Kit

*****Clique Kits April Blog Share CLICK HERE*****
Hello everyone!  I am so excited to be bringing you a layout using the Clique Kits Spring Card kit!  I love this kit and it is just not for card making!

This kit features the On Trend collection from My Minds Eye designed by the very talented Jen Allyson.  I love that the 6×6 paper pad comes with gold foil papers!  The color combination in this kit is just perfect and mix in a beautiful Altenew stamp set and you are set to create!  This past January I had the privilege of attending CHA 2015.  This was an amazing experience and I tried to get as many photos as possible to document the weekend!  While in the beautiful My Minds Eye booth I had one of my Clique girls snap a photo of me in the booth!  I knew once we had this kit all planned out that this photo would be scrapped using this kit!  I printed my journaling on one of the cardstocks in the kit and kept the layout pretty simple.
I absolutely love how it came out and I think this one will be hung in my office!  The Spring Card kit is still available in the shop!  These kits are very limited so pick yours up today!  Thanks so much for stopping today and stay tuned for more projects with this amazing kit!
